This 26m² mini-house in Naples is a glimpse carved out of the Posillipo hill.
The house is an annex of a large villa that enjoys views of the sea that bathes the city.
Two complementary colors bind together—yellow and blue—in this 26-square-meter apartment in Naples: a mini-home designed by architect Paola Sola. A poem to live in, “a fairy tale”—as its designer calls it. After all, we are in Posillipo, where the location is already a dream. The apartment is an annex to a large villa that enjoys views of the sea lapping at the city. Opposite the entrance door is a small courtyard dotted with trees. The perfect setting for living. Here, the designer has carried out a restyling project designed to make room for visitors to Naples and its surroundings: a tailor-made design that embraces a flamboyant palette.

The project, entitled Jallo e Blue, makes use of a few multifunctional objects and embraces a tailor-made vision of (small) space. Despite its limited size, the small apartment with a sea view does not compromise on comfort; on the contrary, it welcomes every aspect of contemporary living. There is no shortage of Mediterranean features, which can already be felt from the outside, crossing the 50-square-meter courtyard that leads to the apartment. There, lemon trees create a natural pergola and an extraordinary play of light and shadow in an outdoor area designed for dining and relaxing—certainly far from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Today, the spaces are divided according to an intuitive logic: the bedroom and bathroom remain close together, but the passageway leading to this private area is a sequence of arched rooms that has given rise to a fitted wall, where everything remains invisible. At the heart of this fixed furniture are clothes and luggage. It is a place of order, which also serves as a room within a room, a technical corner concealed by mirrored paneling. And then, in the more fluid, multitasking environment, there is everything else: a kitchenette and a sofa. In general, these 26 square meters are built on a blank canvas, on which the designer’s idea was developed through the use of color. Blue and yellow (which we mentioned at the beginning) – the former painting the wood and the latter used for details – color a home completely inspired by its location and which (also) brings with it memories of the Cyclades: a travel destination, a departure point, a landing place.
